The Grandmother of Natural Training Systems Ttouch and TTEAM are a system of interdependent bodywork and training techniques for horses and their people. This system is unique, in that it acknowledges the importance of interconnection between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of all living beings. Ttouch is a series of specific movements applied to the horse’s body by the human. It is non invasive, doesn’t take a lot of strength and is very relaxing. The Ttouch has been shown in experimental biofeedback studies to open access to all brainwave patterns simultaneously. This opens the way for rapid learning. So this bodywork not only addresses physical imbalances, it also addresses mental and emotional processes. The grandmother of “natural training systems” was developed by Linda Tellington-Jones in the early 1970’s. Unlike other, more recent, “natural horsemanship” systems, which organize and give common language to what has been done by others to this point, Linda created new methods of relieving pain, fear and tension in horses. This began with the Ttouches. She then designed a groundwork system of training with non-habitual movement, the next step in creating connected consciousness for horses and handlers. She named it TTEAM- Tellington Touch Equine Awareness Method. This has proven to be the fastest way to start young horses on a quiet, open, fearless path of training. It can also quickly change habitual behaviors in older horses, and allow them to release fear and gain understanding in a safe way. TTouch and TTEAM accomplish these goals without endless repetition. Linda found over a lifetime of training horses and doing her new TTEAMwork that pain, fear and habitual response to stress were the largest obstacles in retraining undesirable behaviors. When these were addressed in a safe, non-threatening way humans and horses could achieve greater levels of trust and communication and change long term unwanted behavior. The final piece of her system for freeing horses and riders is called “Joy of Riding” and again uses nontraditional methods to bring joy back into the riding equation. It is designed to be a basic riding introduction for young horses, or an addition to your regular riding style. The exercises can help lower high headed horses, lighten heavy horses, reopen communication through the reins, free up frozen backs and rear ends, stop pulling and more. Riders learn better balance, better feel and better communication with their horses. When combined with the Ttouch bodywork and specific learning exercises from the TTEAM groundwork miracles can happen, changing horse / human interactions for good. Penny Stone has been using TTEAM methods for training horses and their humans since 1989. She has been a certified Practitioner II since 1992 and keeps updated by attending and assistant teaching Trainings with LInda or one of her International Instructors annually. Penny incorporates TTEAM methods as part of her Whole Horse Power clinics. |
